Machh Mani or Meen Mukta or Rahu Mani Stone is a type of pearl that is formed inside the mantle tissues of a mollusk, rather than in the shell itself. It is created when a small piece of foreign material, such as a grain of sand, becomes lodged in the mantle tissue and irritates the mollusk.
This stone is also found in the stomach of Rattan Fish in the deep depths of a Sea. Fishes in deep sea consider mantle tissue of a mollusk to be a living being and eat it. Later it appears in the stomach of these fishes. It is worth noting that there is never any Shukramani Ratan in the stomach of a Fish.
The stones retrieved Directly from Molusk are Called Shukra Mani and stones retrieved from Fishes are Called Machh Mani. Both stones are same in structure and composition but little different in shape and colour.
